about Mantra Himalaya

Mantra Himalaya creates journeys into the hidden crevices of Ladakh and Kashmir, tracing landscapes, unearthing stories and forging deep connections. To travel with us, is to be in constant conversation and play with the land, as you witness the mountains and valleys shift in synchrony with ancient customs and the endless turn of seasons. Carefully crafted from knowledge rooted in a personal relationship with the land, our itineraries are a quiet invitation to step inside stories that have lived here for centuries—stories of monks and nomads, of artisans and wanderers. In Ladakh, apricots bloom with the onset of spring, while in Kashmir, migratory birds return like old friends. Each experience is a shared gesture of awe and respect, a way to see these regions as we do: alive, layered, and unfolding with meaning. With us, you’ll find more than destinations—you’ll uncover the rhythm of places that live in memory long after you’ve left.

Pashmina Trails

There is a story behind every strand of pashmina (otherwise known as Cashmere) , spun from the world’s highest plateaus and warmed by fires that know tales older than time. Pashmina Trails is a journey into the heart of this story, where threads of “soft gold” wind through history, from emperors to artisans. Following in the footsteps of the Changpa nomads, we learn their careful ways—how they guide their Changra goats across the high-altitude plains, spinning memories into fibre that will be woven into the world’s most coveted shawls. Here, among towering mountains and beneath vast skies, you touch the origins of pashmina and weave your own story into the legacy of this ancient land.

Spirits of the Mountains

Winter wraps Ladakh in a cloak of silence, a hush that feels sacred. And it’s in this stillness that Spirits of the Mountains unfolds—a journey through Ladakh’s mystical winter, where oracles gather, channelling ancient prophecies at the Matho Nagrang festival, their voices rising beneath snow-laden skies. Here, in the shadows of frozen cliffs, the elusive snow leopard moves like a whisper, while ibex graze with a vigilance sharpened by the cold. Ladakh in winter feels otherworldly, as if one is walking through a myth, where every footstep in the snow echoes with the stories of this land. This journey touches the sacred and the sublime, a chance to witness Ladakh’s raw beauty in winter’s quietest hours, where earthly life and the spirit world meet.

Chasing Spring

Spring in Ladakh begins like a slow, lazy stretch—a sleepy awakening as the land begins to shed its winter coat. The valleys blush with apricot blooms, and there’s a crispness to the air as the world hums back to life. In Chasing Spring, we follow this gentle unravelling, chasing the season’s secrets as they unfurl across Ladakh’s many faces. Each village holds a different note of spring—lush orchards, quiet trails, the aroma of apricot blossoms mingling with the warmth of sunlit days. Nights are spent beneath trees that shiver with new leaves, while nearby, bear cubs are carefully taught the ways of the wild. It’s an experience that is both tender and grand—a walk through spring’s many chapters, from blossom to bud, from sweetness to fruit, wrapped in Ladakh’s gentle embrace.

Meet the Founders

Two runaways, inspired by nature, with a curiosity for the outdoors and a desire to find new roots, came together as Mantra. While one of us understands the detailed contours of Ladakh, the other infuses it with the spirit of wanderlust. Being in Ladakh is an inward journey, and we ensure it mirrors your mood, quicksilver or resolute. But then, we also encourage you to explore—and nudge you to try something a bit beyond.

Jigmet Wangchuk, a Ladakhi by heart and heritage, brings two decades of experience in curating journeys across the Great Himalayas, with an unparalleled knowledge of Ladakh’s contours and culture. Returning to his homeland after years with Shakti Himalaya and Banyan Tours, Jigmet’s passion is bound to Ladakh’s landscape and people, deeply tied to their traditions and stories. Jiwan Kaur, his partner in this journey, adds a perspective shaped by a life of contrasts—from cityscapes to the quiet rhythms of rural Punjab. After a successful career in advertising and brand-building with names like Mccainn and Royal Enfield, she found her calling in Ladakh, drawn by its stillness and spiritual depth. Together, they lead with an instinct for human connection, creating a space where each journey mirrors the traveller’s own rhythm, whether adventurous or introspective.
